Amazing Open Spaces In A Sustainably Designed Building

Events@no6 is the home of and has been purpose built by The Royal College of Pathologists.
The building itself has been designed by Bennetts Associates, the first and only architectural practice in the world to have approved science-based targets and be carbon neutral via the United Nations Climate Neutral Now framework.

The atrium and floor to ceiling heights allow good levels of useful daylight to be achieved which reduces the need for lighting power, and where lighting is required LEDs have been specified. In terms of wellbeing the displacement ventilation uses air-change levels well over those used in traditional servicing strategies and provide improved air quality. Good access to daylight is also proven to improve productivity and happiness.

The building also has a biodiverse green roof that will provide habitats for local bird and insect species, as well as reducing water run-off and reducing the urban heat island effect. Their core values are to reduce, reuse and to recycle.

The venue has nine bright meeting rooms and event spaces, with in-built AV, and flexible breakout spaces. Our bright and airy spaces are available weekdays, evenings and weekends and can accommodate a range of meetings and events from training days to fine dining.

“Green” initiatives includes:

Uphold zero-to-landfill business status

Remain fully aware of all environmental legislation and ensure that regulatory requirements are met.

Ensure all disposables provided are the best environmental fit for the client’s waste management systems.

Endorse the use of filtered water systems that negate the delivery, storage, and recycling of mineral water bottles.

Utilise eco-friendly chemicals.

Purchase paper products made from recycled materials and from sustainably managed forests. n Facilitate the use of public transport with all staff.

Train staff to reduce their energy and water usage on site.

Promote environmentally-friendly alternatives to clients and customers across all areas

Reducing Negative Effects

There is much focus on reducing negative effects on the planet, ethical provenance and a positive impact on people, both internally and externally to the immediate business. Constantly innovate and seek out products, suppliers and partners who contribute a positive social and environmental impact. Monitor the implementation of the policy by carrying out periodic audits of compliance with sites and suppliers.

Work with government agencies and charitable bodies to set targets to continually reduce impacts beyond legislation requirements.
Particular focus of the business is to reduce the use of all raw materials, energy and supplies.

Working in partnership with their clients’ CSR and sustainability teams so that the venue’s actions compliment their client’s own sustainability objectives. Backing British farmers by choosing local produce. This reduces food miles associated with purchased ingredients and ensures only the freshest seasonal produce is used in the kitchens. All bottled water partners source from the UK and donate profits to charity. Sales of Thirsty Planet branded water from one site alone has enabled a water pump in Malawi to be constructed providing an extra 55 people with access to clean water.
