Harkstead Village Hall

Church Lane, Harkstead, Ipswich IP9 1DG

Harkstead village is beautifully located by the river Stour on the Shotley Peninsula. The area is popular with walkers, cyclists and wildlife enthusiasts. The Bakers Arms pub in the village centre offers a place to relax with food and refreshment for locals and visitors. A village hall was first established in 1947 using a former chicken hut. The building was well used for many years. By the late 1980’s it was decided a new hall was needed. This was completed in 1993 with public grants, a loan and hard work by local groups in the parish to raise £20,000. Over the years Harkstead village hall has gone from strength to strength and all running costs are met from the range of activities it provides. Regular sessions include an Art Group, Carpet Bowls and a Coffee morning. The hall can also be hired for meetings, training courses and other functions and events.
