Kings Place Events to celebrate 10 year anniversary with refurbishment of key event space

Kings Place Events is to refurbish its popular Battlebridge Room this summer, ready to re-launch in September to celebrate the King’s Cross venue’s 10th anniversary in October.

The canal-side room features a private, covered terrace and offers the prefect blank canvas space for a range of events from meetings, product launches, weddings, summer and Christmas parties.

The refurbishment will take place over August and add more features into the space, meaning less is needed to dress the room making it more appealing for a wide range of clients and events. New key features include a built-in timber dance floor, a fully controllable lighting system with colour changing capabilities, three 75inch digital screens, and a new reception area and cloakroom facility. The restyling includes feature wall panels of fret cut metal with a copper metallic finish, set in an oak surround, which is also reflected in a new bar with the same copper fret cut metal and a reconstituted stone grey marble look bar top. The pillars in the room will also become feature items with oak slats at the lower levels and metallic copper feature lights above.

The Battlebridge Room will reopen in the first week of September. Existing capacities of up to 400 guests for a reception, 220 for a dinner and 100 theatre style will remain the same.

The refurbishment is part of a wider investment in excess of £1.5 million by Green & Fortune to mark the 10th anniversary of both Kings Place and Green & Fortune to include the renovation of Rotunda Bar and Restaurant, also located on the ground floor of Kings Place, closing on 27 July to fully reopen in mid-September 2018. The redesign of Rotunda Bar and Restaurant will emphasise two stand-out features – the restaurant’s ‘gate-to-plate’ ethos and the extensive terrace overlooking Regent’s Canal.

Significant changes to Rotunda include an open-to view kitchen (relocated from the lower level of the building), a large meat-ageing cabinet in the restaurant, a chef’s counter, and a semi-enclosed terrace space with heaters, enabling the area to be used year-round. The refurbishment will further enhance the bar, elevate the private dining space, and revamp the terrace garden, which is a popular summer party venue.

A redesigning of the Green & Fortune Café, located in the atrium area of Kings Place, will similarly take place in August.

With the opening of Kings Place in 2008, John Nugent created Green & Fortune, encompassing Rotunda Bar and Restaurant, the Green & Fortune Café and Kings Place Events. Ten years later, the business has grown significantly with a team of almost 190 people and an annual turnover in excess of £12.5 million. Green & Fortune is a vibrant and growing business, evolving alongside the broader King’s Cross developments and beyond. October 2018 marks the tenth anniversary of both Kings Place and Green & Fortune. This milestone has prompted Green & Fortune to look forward and reinvest in all its entities at Kings Place, both building on the success of the last decade and affirming its presence in London’s hospitality and events scene.

Since opening in 2008, Kings Place has established itself as a leading conference and events space providing all catering, AV and production services in-house for a variety of events from a large scale conference with exhibition stands to drinks receptions, boardroom meetings and private dinners.
