Covid-19 Safe Accreditation?

29 May 20202m read

A number of groups have been rolling out accreditation schemes for venues. The aim is to give venues some much needed clarity as to what they need to do in order to re-open safely! Hopefully, this in turn will reassure clients that they can return to venues safely!
• QUALTITY IN TOURISM has partnered with the HBAA (Hotel Booking Agent Associations) to offer their ‘Safe Clean & Legal’ accreditation. The scheme has been running for some, it has now been updated in collaboration with “Environmental Health to develop protocols and standards for hotels and venues to protect their teams and their guests”. The scheme has garnered much support across the industry, Both Venue Directory and Edge Venues have confirmed the accreditation will be available on their platforms.

Details of how providers can apply for the accreditation can be found here.

• NAVITAS – REOPEN WITH CONFIDENCE. Navitas are a health and safety consultancy specialising in the hospitality industry. They are offering specific Covid 19 Control Guidance and a supporting certification scheme
Details of the scheme etc can be found here
• London focused corporate event agency HIRE SPACE are offering independent safety accreditation for venues! As things stand it is not yet up and running, though we believe it is imminent.

The International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC), the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) and the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) have announced the release of a global good practice guide for business events.
The ‘Good Practice Guide: Addressing Covid-19 Requirements for Re-Opening Business Events’ was jointly produced by all three organisations. The guide identifies and promotes globally emerging standards, protocols, and good practices, as authorities around the world increasingly clear business events to run again, meaning organisers of conventions and exhibitions, as well as venue and centre operators need to put respective measures in place that create safe environments for participants.
The third in a series of Covid-19 related guides, it is being shared with the associations’ respective memberships, in order to support their work to create conditions and safeguards in order to enable the safe re-opening of activities while observing the needs and expectations of relevant governments and health authorities.
The Guide complements the ‘Good Practice Guidance to Covid-19 for Convention and Exhibition Centres‘ and the ‘Good Practice Guidance for the Use of Centres as Temporary Emergency Facilities‘, two publications which were produced and distributed in March and April of this year.
